The thought of not being able to work for a year or more is completely foreign to most of us. However, the statistics confirm that 20 percent of U.S. workers will see this exact situation.

A long-term disability insurance usually pays benefits up to 2 years, 5 years until age 65 years or for life. This means you can receive up to 70 percent of your regular income while you can not work to pay your mortgage and other expenses of daily life.

Why pay for insurance when the government will clothe me?
