Pharmacist Liability Insurance

Posted on February 9, 2010.
Pharmacist Liability InsuranceIf a pharmacy technician professional liability insurance?

As a pharmacy technician and certified instructor for a pharmacy school at a technical college Illinois, the subject was raised of whether students must obtain liability insurance, such as pharmacists and doctors to protect them in case of accidental injury or death. I have not been able to find an answer. Technicians are responsible for errors if a licensed pharmacist has checked their work, or are they covered by an umbrella of responsibility in the pharmacy where they work? I was in the field for 11 years and have never had someone suggest I get liability insurance. Thank you pour votre aide.

Maybe:

Yes you are covered by liability insurance institutions, but it is also true of the MD and PhD in pharmacy. They even come because they want someone to fight in their corner fighting for there best interests and not the hospital or pharmacy.

Tech have a responsibility when they make a mistake, no matter who they check, but it is doubtful that a lawyer because they did not pursue the deep pockets of an MD, D. Pharm, hospital, pharmacy chain have.

So, theoretically, they should Yes, in fact, I doubt that this is necessary. The profession is evolving as technicians gain more and more responsibilities that this could change in a few years.

Absolutely.

and the blame will fall on the pharmicist because it is liscened ... it is always good to have protection .... u should consult a lawyer

No, because the pharmasist and the institution takes all the heat of this kind of situation. In addition, if the technology has met, or orders received without the pharmacist to check their work and guiding them, the pharmacist is at fault.

You must be covered by the policy of your employer. However -

"The pharmacy technician is a qualified professional. If you can not be sure of coverage responsibility of your employer if you can not be sure if you work in six months if you can not be sure what your current policy covers, you need a pharmacy technician political responsibility. "
