Is there a club for people with physical disabilities in the New York area? Hello everyone. I found the flags if you have a mental deficiency and there are flags that are essentially day care programs for adults, but what if you do not fall into this category? What if you have MS or a brain tumor so that you can not work, but you do not want to go out from time to time. someone knows something?
The club model is not used with persons other than psychiatric or cognitive disabilities (the person with a brain tumor could fit in one for people with brain injuries). It is a protectionist environment to help people who need consistency and support. Many people only receive their medication on a daily basis to help them so they can keep their medications safely (many homeless.) Meals are provided. Medical care is often provided. They are run by nonprofit organizations that most often receive Medicaid and Medicare dollars to run them.
Day programs are not very different - generally face a more dependent population that requires transportation to get there and back - and is often directed at older people with disabilities who live with their children at work - a kind of childcare adults.
I do not know any of these programs anywhere for more independence of persons with disabilities capable.
For people in Broward County, Florida there are several clubs for people with mental illnesses and mental - those you can make art / ceamics / they go on field trips / they have groups Support / movies pool games / / almost everything you want and one for seniors and one for other
The only "clubs" for people with disabilities I can think, who do not fall under the "care" category you mention, are the sports clubs such as wheelchair basketball, athletics, etc.
There are support groups disabiulity - many MS
