Motor trade insurance help? Hello,
I intend to make a roadtrip in the next weekend in the UK with my friend who owns a car.
Peace of mind that I asked him if hes sure he said yes it is hes on the motor trade policy that ensures to drive any vehicle. Hes managed to do so, they have a family business in the automotive sector.
Is it his motor trade policy are recorded on the MID (Motor Insurance Database) for the car hes driving? How does it work? I do not understand.
If not recorded then the police will see it as uninsured and the police will interfere and cause inconvinience to our road trip stopping in if you understand what Im saying. I want the roadtrip from perfect.
So what is the best advice can be given EHV about this?
Thank you,
JG has struck again!
If stopped by the police, they would not find insurance for the car to on the MID. They would then want to know who he was assured through and they would then phone the insurance company to verify and then.
If it passes through a control or ANPR ANPR equipped police car flags up the car can not have insurance so they will stop it. If it does not have the disadvantage of insurance will deteriorate because they impounded the vehicle.
Trade policy could be the engine for social development and the use of trade so that it can thus be assured
JG speaks Bull. A policy may allow traders to persons covered to drive a vehicle as part of their work. Some insurers may ask you to update every car you sell to THEIR database. Most DONT. The MID has nothing to do with the auto insurance business as such. All your friend needs to do is make a copy of insurance with him, so if you get stopped you can provide proof.
It is full of bull!
A commercial policy covers only motor vehicles used for commercial purposes, or belonging to the insured, which I assume is his father / mother / uncle.
Vehicles purchased must be added to the insurance policy, which allows insurers to update the MID.
It is your problem too if it is certain to ask to see a certificate of insurance.
