Handyman Liability Insurance

Posted on February 20, 2010.
Handyman Liability InsuranceHow can a handyman get liability insurance if it hurts?

My handyman can replace my roof. I would like for him to do, but I am concerned if it hurts. How can he get his own liability insurance?

I am sure he is a nice guy, but I do not want to replace my roof. Hire someone with experience and adequate insurance.

In addition, by hiring him to replace the roof of your account are basically on him as an employee. It is called the owner-contract. Stay away from this at all costs.

He needs workman comp for that.

They might be able to get bonded and insured in this way ..

Now that you open a Pandora's box, you may not like ...
Most states require that you are a business owner to obtain insurance for a job .... Plus you may be required to have a license issued by your local inspections department ... Most states allow you to work on your own home ... But if someone else does their must be a licensed contractor to get a license ... Beware if you have a permit to shoot then you will be required to have inspection and prior to the inspector Signing Off ... But liability insurance does not hurt him just a mock your property if he screws up ... Workman covers when you are injured and unfortunately you can not comp .... as you can not have unemployment insurance on ..... you ...... cannot fire you ....... Good luck, but you're in a Catch 22 ...

You should never allow a contractor to touch your property
without proof of adequate insurance. This policy should
provide a minimum of $ 1,000,000 in liability coverage. They
should also have their own workers' compensation, which varies from state to state. Some states require that workers
off on your insurance for the home or a worker accidentally. Check your policy.
