Georgia Flood

Posted on March 5, 2010.
Georgia FloodWhy do people build homes in flood plains, as in Georgia?

People who build their homes in flood plains and looking shocked when water (Nature) claims of the house. Why do people do this?

The houses are built in flood plains here in the LA area, too. (And the fault of the earthquake in the areas of bushfire on old landslides, etc.) Developers buy the land. Developers contribute to local politicians. The developers get to build on their land. Today, most people assume that the houses are built where it is safe to build. They have no background or experience to even question the safety of the house they want.

The terrain is flat and close to the River.

People build in places such for convenience, they made thousands of years, the river supplies drinking water, fisheries and transport - a trifecta of good things, only the remains of an occasional floods of things bit.

The vast majority of people have no idea when the house they live, appears to be on a flood plain! Thus, when a 100 or a 50, or even a flood along the 25 years between, they are always the last to know (and the FIRST to find !!!)... People are lame-o 's. .. What can I say??! O

You are overlooking the most obvious reason.

They were born, their parents were born there.

People stay where they were raised.

It is a nice place with flat land suitable and easy to build ..

Why do people build houses where tornadoes occur? I do not understand
