Crna Malpractice Insurance

Posted on January 28, 2010.
Crna Malpractice InsuranceWhat is the malpractice insurance for a CRNA (nurse anesthetist) per year?

Does anyone know what the average cost of insurance against malpractice of a CRNA (nurse anesthetist) is per week, month, year? How it works ... Have you set up the insurance and pay for it a bill "form ... or it gets automatically deducted from your paycheck weekly?

I know that starting salaries for CRNAs is about $ 115000-150000 per year, depending on where you live and work, and try to get a ballpark figure on how much you take home (after taxes, insurance, malpractice, health insurance, retirement, etc ...) Anyone have an idea of how you do at home to pay a CRNA?

Please reply if you know what I mean. And no, a CRNA is not a CNA (nurses cert. ...). Aid There is a large difference (a baccalaureate in nursing, years of experience RN, then 2 years of higher education in a Master anesthia nurse!).

Also, I know that some places say they pay for your malpractice insurance, health insurance, etc. 100% in your benefit ... Is this common? At first I thought CNRAs were covered by anesthesiologists, and they do not need malpractice insurance ... but it seems that this is not the case ...

Thank you for your repsonse!

There are many variables to your question, such as location, experience, employer, etc. it is difficult to give a precise answer.

However, one thing that I invite you to consider is to obtain and pay for your own umbrella policy "if your employer does provide liability insurance as part of your benefits package. I have seen many nurses too "hung out to dry" by organizations which "gave" professional misconduct. Employers primary loyalty is to their organization and I have seen nurses "sacrificed" for very minor offenses of Nurse Practice Act when it comes to push vs push.

Nobody will ever care more about your license and "behind" you, so please make sure you cover.

Bonus varies on the state you live your years of experience, or problems in the past. But approx. $ 5000/year. Most employers pay this. But if you are Union 1099.
