Business Protection Insurance

Posted on February 17, 2010.
Business Protection InsuranceWhat type of insurance or protection does private detectives out to them their business?

Privacy can be a tricky thing. And most people do not want you taking pictures or collecting information about them. But if that's what you do for a living, how do you protect yourself against lawsuits or running for questioning by police when what you are doing is gathering information for a customer - all Corporations - but perhaps with special permits and other guarantees?

Private detectives are licensed and regulated by the states in which they work. As insurance, they must provide insurance errors and omissions, Standard Commercial liability insurance, and clean riders in the profession, with special coverage for firearms (if applicable), libel and slander, and sequestration.

You really can not protect you against lawsuits. You can make sure that you can defend yourself against lawsuits, but anyone can sue you for anything at any time.

Being a PI is not as fun or as easy as it might appear on television, but I'm sure a lot of work is not as dramatic either.
